Back in March, we waited out a big rainstorm (for the Baja desert, anyways) in Santa Rosalía before departing for an overnight passage to Bahía San Francisquito. As we departed and the clouds broke we were gifted with a an absolutely beautiful double rainbow-sunset combo. 🌈 🌈 🌅

After dark Mother Nature also gifted us with high winds that were further accelerated over the mountain range just to the west, which made for tense and uncomfortable sailing. Of course, the winds eventually subsided and we arrived to our planned destination safely, albeit tired.

Finding the balance between having enough wind to sail and not too much to make it uncomfortable is tricky and a skill we’re still working on!

We’ve been kinda quiet over here lately, but we’ve been busy getting lots of work done on Alegría. The dusty boatyard has us longing to get back out there and reminiscing of aqua waters and white sandy beaches. Name drop!! We went over all your awesome van name submissions and even chose a couple to try them out, but in the end this one just clicked.

WOODSTOCK - the adventure van!

We were sitting around our campsite and noticed the same bright blue bird (turns out it was a Western Scrub Jay) kept visiting morning and afternoon, poking around Rosco’s food. He was pretty friendly and came back to see us several times a day over the 4 days we spent there. Then, it clicked!

Rosco’s new van friend Woodstock...like the little sidekick to Snoopy the beagle 🐶🐥

It’s been over a week on the road and we’re loving our little mobile camper van!

We’ve been hard at work building out our #sprint

We’ve been hard at work building out our #sprintervan. Before we get into our build details we thought a brief introduction to the van was due!

It’s a 2006 140 wheelbase, standard roof #t1n sprinter. We snagged it with just over 100k miles and a really good start to the final buildout we’ll do ourselves. Since picking it up we have traveled from Oakland, California, through Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Mexico, New Mexico and back to Texas where we’ve been continuing the refit for even more adventures!

Did you notice it doesn’t have a name?? We’ve been racking our brains but haven’t found the one that fits quite yet! Please help us out and comment below with suggestions!
